AESATA has two membership categories

Full Membership

This includes national Travel Agents’ associations that are registered in their respective countries and also registered member of United Federation of Travel Agents’ Association (UFTAA) within their region. Such membership will be subject to renewal on annual basis.

Associate Membership

This include organizations that carry on business within the travel and tourism industry and are considered in their country of residence as sufficient representatives of the travel and tourism industry in accordance with the laws of the respective country of residence and the accredited tourism authorities in their respective countries.

Qualification to become a member

-Any national travel agent of a country within Eastern and Southern Africa shall be eligible for membership subject to the approval of the Board

-Organizations carrying on business in the travel and tourism industry and whose organizations are resident within the countries making up eastern and southern Africa

Membership Application

-Submit a properly completed application form to the Executive Committee

-Attach to the application form, an extract of minutes of meeting wherein three quarter of its voting members vote in favour of joining the society

-All applicants for the different types of membership shall be considered by the Executive Committee in accordance with agreed criteria.

-Applicant will receive notice within a reasonable time whether the application is successful or not.

-All members shall agree to adhere to the Association’s Code of Ethics and Work according to the Standards for Travel Agents’ Association.

Angola – Angolan Association of Travel Agents (AAVOTA)
AAVOTA is the Association of Travel Agencies and Tour Operators of Angola, which according to its statutes, article 1, is a professional non-profit organization that is governed by its statutes and legal personality distinct from its members.
AAVOTA is set to energize and together with the Angolan Executive create conditions that promote and stimulate all initiatives that can create added value for their development.
AAVOTA also aims to promote and stimulate the action of tourism entrepreneurs through a social intervention of identification, incentive and training of potential entrepreneurs, especially in the framework of public-private partnerships.

Botswana – Northern Botswana Travel Agents Association (NBTAA)
The Northern Botswana Travel Agents Asssociation aims to promote professional service in the Botswana travel industry for both members and their clients. The association’s focus is to ensure the sustainability and profitability of our members as well as the delivery of a professional service to the travelling consumer service to the travelling consumer.
We are Internet-based, non-profit and we strive to offer excellent Botswana customer service.
NBTAA’s policies are grounded in the determination that Travel agencies registered with Botswana Tourism must, and can, remain a viable component of the Botswana travel industry sales channel, regardless of the competitive pressures.
Travelers depend on Botswana travel agencies to guide them honestly and competently.  All NBTAA members pledge to conduct their business activities in a manner that promotes the ideal of integrity in travel and agree to act in accordance with the applicable sections of the following Principles of the NBTAA Code of Ethics.  Complaints arising under this Code should be filed with the NBTAA .
Ethiopia – Ethiopian Travel Agents’ Association (ETAA)

The Kenya Association of Travel Agents is the national umbrella body for Travel Agents in Kenya, with a growing membership of over 160 Travel Agencies, and is Kenya’s largest and only membership organization for travel. KATA recently transitioned from a society to a company limited by guarantee, providing more space for growth and defending the travel trade. KATA is a member of the Universal Federation of Travel Agents’ Association (UFTAA), which represents 84 countries. It also hosts the Secretariat of the Association of Eastern and Southern African Travel Agents (AESATA).

Rwanda – Rwanda Tours and Travel Association (RTTA)
RTTA, which stands for Rwanda Tours and Travel Association, was founded in the year 2000 by a small group of Rwandan Tours & Travel operators concerned about the quality of tourism services in the country. These founding members recognized the need to create awareness of Rwanda as a competent tourism destination as well as represent the interests of the national tours and travel industry.
RTTA Members are the industry leaders in the tours and travel trade and represent a wide spectrum of travel and vacation packages available in Rwanda.

Somalia – Somalia Association of Travel and Tours Agencies (SATTA)
Somalia Association of Travel and Tourism Agents (SATTA) is an association representing travel and tourism agencies operating in Somalia, It was established in 2013 with a fundamental aim of improving the travel and tourism sectors. SATTA is a private, independent organization founded in Somalia through a formal agreement between the country’s private travel agencies, to allow the organization to represent the travel and tourism agency’s interests at the national as well as international level under the Federal Republic of Somalia.
SATTA is also a full member of the United Federation of Travel Agents Association (UFTAA) and is working with the International Air Transport Association (IATA). It is now the leading travel and tourism organization that provides the necessary support to its members in order for them to provide efficient, cost effective and quality travel services for their customers.

Tanzania – Tanzania Society of Travel Agents (TASOTA) Tanzania Society of Travel Agents (TASOTA) was registered under the Registrar of Societies in October,1980. The society was formed with sole intention of bringing under one-fold all the Travel Agents in Tanzania and speak with one voice with the concerned authorities. TASOTA is 38 years old now and has grown to a sizeable organisation with a membership of 45 travel agents – both IATA Accredited and non-IATA. TASOTA organises regular events for its members with a view of empowering them to execute their duties as travel agents more effectively. We also provide a platform to our members to engage with various Governments’ institutions with a view of addressing challenging matters pertaining to our industry and also provide recommendations. Uganda – The Uganda Association of Travel Agents (TUGATA)
The Uganda Association of Travel Agents (TUGATA) is the leading member-based Association of all professional travel agents in Uganda that was established in the early 90’s.
TUGATA membership consists of both IATA Accredited Travel Agents and Non-IATA Travel Agents whose core business is the sale of airline tickets to destinations all over the world. TUGATA members are bound by the TUGATA code of conduct that requires them to act with integrity and fairness in the best interest of the travel industry.

    Zimbabwe – Association of Zimbabwe Travel Agents (AZTA)
    AZTA was formed over 60 years ago by a group of travel agents with the intent of joining forces to become one voice to suppliers and authorities, thereby ensuring it would be represented and respected as an industry player. AZTA has grown to a membership of 55 throughout Zimbabwe.
    AZTA has a constitution with a code of conduct to ensure that integrity is not compromised and a high standard of service is delivered with consistency and commitment to the valued traveller.As you can appreciate AZTA’s members are highly qualified to take care of all travel needs, and with all the above associations the general public should feel confident that they are dealing with professional, efficient and financially stable organizations.
